Are you ready for the WSOP.com portion of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 Main Event?

Today, players in Nevada and New Jersey will have the opportunity to compete in the last major tournament of 2020, a year that has caused nearly all poker operators to adapt.

For the WSOP, that meant moving the $10,000 Main Event to an online-live hybrid held on both GGPoker for international players and WSOP.com for domestic players. Each field will play to a final table — the GGPoker portion has already reached its final table — and it'll take two full days for the field to get there.

Today at Noon local time, the sole starting flight will get underway. The tournament, which is played in a freezeout format, will start players with 60,000 in chips and play 30-minute levels. Late registration will remain open for six hours (6 p.m. local time). The plan for the day is to play 12 hours with the surviving players returning at Noon PST on Monday, December 14 to play down to the final table of nine. That final table is then slated to play out live at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on December 28 (it will also be recorded for broadcast on ESPN).

The winner of this tournament along with the winner of the GGPoker portion will then battle one-on-one in a special heads-up finale on December 30. The winner will not only walk away with a $1,000,000 prize added by GGPoker and the WSOP, but also claim the coveted gold bracelet and title of 2020 WSOP Main Event champion!

The start of the tournament is still a few hours away, and already 213 players are registered as of publication time. Among them are some familiar names including Tony 'ToNiSiNz' Sinishtaj, Frank 'thewholefunk' Funaro, Eric 'circleball' Baldwin, Ryan 'Protential' Laplante, Shannon 'Aulophobia' Shorr, Ian 'APokerJoker2' Steinman, Robert 'bustinballs' Kuhn, and Katie 'katelin' Lindsay. Many others are expected to jump into action including Daniel Negreanu and Mike Matusow.

PokerNews will be there every step of the way from the first hand all the way until the final table is set late Monday night. Be sure to join us over the next couple of days to see who thrives and who fails to survive.
